Halloween Tag: Savannah Shea Blake

Inspire. Create. Write.TM

Wooooohoooo!!!
~~Happy Friday Dance & Halloween Weekend!

To kick things off with my maniacal Halloween plans {muuuuhahaha}, I have a super awesome guest who's going to share with us her magical experiences of Halloween's past.

I've always loved EVERYthing about Halloween. The Trick o' Treatin, the candy, the Epic costumes, the vibe, the culture, the parties. Everything.
Sadly though in my religion/culture & location there is No Halloween at all. Nada. We do have a celebration called Diwali where indians stay up all night & light up the skies with fireworks, so it wasn't a complete loss. I did have mad, crazy fun as a kid. Dangerous yes, but super fun & explosive. hahaha

Still I would have, just once, liked to dress up as superman & go Trick o' Treatin.
Livin' vicariously through peeps, I'm using this as a chance to catch up on their adventures.

Halloween Tag:

1. Do you celebrate Halloween?
  • I do! It’s always been one of my favorites!

2. Have you ever dressed up for Halloween or any other event before, if tell us about your costume
  • I dress up any chance I get! I never miss a Halloween, a Renaissance Fair or anything else! I’m something different every year. Last year I was a pin up girl, the year before that it was day of the dead and the year before that I was a porcelain doll, although my friends kids insisted I was a vampire.

3. What is your favorite horror movie?
  • Thirteen Ghosts, Ghost Ship and Rose Red. They’re all my favorites.
4. You’re home alone but you hear footsteps in your house, what do you do?
  • Grab the gun, search the place and if I find no one light some candles, tell them to go away and possibly spread some salt.
5. Have you ever been trick or treating?
  • Oh yes. When I was little it was mostly us just going around to my family’s houses. When I got a little older we would hit subdivisions.

6. Favorite scary book?

  • The Trickster

7. What was your first Halloween costume?
  • I have no idea but the first to my memory was Jasmine from Aladdin.

8. If you got trapped in one scary movie, which would you choose?
  • Anything that’s not ghosts and spirits. I think I could handle mostly anything else. How about zombies? I think I would thrive with some zombies.

9. In a zombie apocalypse what is your weapon of choice?
  • Sword. It’s smoother than an axe or anything similar and doesn’t run out of bullets.

10. What is your favorite Halloween candy?
  • Receese’s
11. Have you ever carved a pumpkin?
  • Oh yes. I try to carve things other than faces though. I think last year I carved a cat.

12. Name something you wouldn’t want to run into in a dark forest or in an abandoned building.
  • I wouldn’t want to run into anything, thanks. haha

13. Have you played any scary pranks on anyone or has anyone played a scary prank on you?
  • Not really. We’ve rolled people’s (family’s) yards and had ours rolled. That’s about it.

14. How old were you when you saw your first horror movie?
  • I have no idea but I saw Nightmare on Elm St when I was like 10ish and slept in my parents bedroom floor for the next 2 years hahaha.

15. Is Halloween an important holiday for you?
  • Not really important. Just fun.
16. What do you think Halloween is about?
  • The thinning of the veil between this world and others. I’ve seen some documentaries about how it all started. I like to engulf myself in the magic of it all.
17. What would be your ideal Halloween costume?
  • This year I’m going as a badass huntress. That’s pretty perfect in my mind.

18. Favorite horror monster or villain?
  • I can’t play favorites. I dislike them all equally haha.

19. If you were in a horror movie, how far do you think you would get?
  • I’d survive. I’m intelligent and badass like that.

20. Your best Halloween memory?

  • I don’t have a best. There are moments in most of them that I remember being really happy. Like the first time we got to trick or treat that didn’t involve just going around to family’s houses. We rode around in my parent’s friend’s gator and sang “I want candy” the whole time. Or when I stopped trick or treating and instead just hung out with friends and watched scarey movies.

Testimonials for Live Your Now & S.S Blake

Last year was probably filled with the single most amazing, craziest, uninhibited, outstanding, trying & unbelievable times I've ever experienced in my life. But along that journey, I was introduced to a whole new side to the world. The wonderful world of personal development. See before that I believe I just existed. Existed in the way my circumstances & environment had molded me to become. I had no inclination of the power that comes from mastering yourself nor of the way in which it strengthened the bonds you had with family and friends or how good it made you feel.

It was through this that I learned about a key concept called Edification.
Now the dictionary defines the word Testimonial as: n. a formal statement testifying to someone's character and qualifications.
And I would like to use this opportunity to give testimony to two unique and powerful souls that I've had the distinct pleasure of working with,
Savannah S. Blake & Richie from the Live Your Now initiative. They have both participated in the Inspire Tag posts that I run here on the blog, in which they share epic answers that are sure to inspire you. Read all about them by clicking on the links below:

Let's begin in order, shall we?
Meet Richie

Live Your Now, run by Richie, an almost reluctant "coach" who embarked upon the journey to bring mindfulness to others, because basically it needed doing. Facing his own "am I good enough to do this?" fears, he now encourages others to live mindfully and presently, after spending the majority of his own life hiding the grip of anxiety and locked in his own thoughts, now with the attitude of "Heck, if I can do this, anyone can!" A universal calling, rather than something he would have predicted, he's now submitted entirely to this path in service to bringing peace to people and our world... hopefully... or giving it a good go anyway!

The First Exclusive Interview with Live Your Now

#MindFulTrain
***

This weekend I got to attend the National Achievers Congress, VIP style thanks to In Africa N Beyond who will be featured in this weeks #TravelTuesday Travel Tag so look out for that.
While at the congress I learned that "Thoughts are real forces" from the one & only Robin Banks who I got to take a selfie with the last time I met him haha. He talked about how it all starts with a thought, how there's three states of the mind. Conscious, Unconcious & Subconscious. How what we think, we become. Anxiety, doubt, depression & stress plague us all and if we focus on only those thoughts, guess what happens? They become Real! How about if we focus on the positive ones?

That being said, Richie & I had been talking for awhile on social media so recently when I had a bout of anxiety over an unbelievable opportunity I had been offered, he was the first one I went to for guidance. The opportunity itself was something I never planned for or even imagined would ever come my way so naturally I had doubts & reservations.

The first thing I was taken by was Richie's abundant joy & celebration over my news. It's always heart warming to find people in your life that are selflessly supportive & encouraging. He then proceded to listen to my doubts and proposed not only the solutions to them but also, more importantly, he helped me figure out my next steps to take. It's easy to get caught up in the chaos storm of thoughts and find them difficult to decipher, yet Richie helped me field through them with ease, finding those golden nuggets that I could use to help me go forward with this opportunity I had been given.

Thankfully he was able to schedule a skype call with me that Sunday afternoon. In it we discussed how I would move forward and I also got to hear his truly deep and moving story of why he started the Live Your Now initiative. Why he's so passionate about it. It touched me to my core and I will never forget the message he relayed within it. I hope that you all hear it from him soon.

What I really want to talk about is the end of this call, because it was probably one of the most profound moments I've had in a long time. Richie advised me that we would be ending the call with a mindful exercise and I had no idea what to expect. His goal for me since I began talking to him about my anxiety was to get me in the present moment and not focus on the past or the future. He told me to close my eyes and focus on my breathing. I did. He then began to slip into an almost hypnotic and soothing voice walking me through these steps of presence. For the First Time in MY life, I truly existed only in that present moment. It was mind boggling what he made me feel, I can't even begin to describe the experience of existing within that one moment, of everything else fading away not like it was in the background, no, it all faded away and I was left with this peace. This peaceful moment of clarity. For the longest time I thought it impossible to find such a moment, to ever have a way to clear your mind, yet there it was thanks to my friend, my mentor, my brother Richie. I have used this mindful technique every day, all week and it has just been spectacular. I've become more and more appreciative of the power of the mind, less anxious over well practically everything, more self-confident in my abilities. I can truly say without a shadow of a doubt that Life has never been the same since. What an amazing, powerful & sincerely helpful godsend Richie has been and I know will continue to be for me & many, many others all around the world.

I would passionately recommend anyone & everyone to Richie at the Live Your Now initiative.

My biggest issue & enemy right now is Time. Time to deal with my day job & also pursue my dream of becoming a published author. More often than not I leave the office quite late, mostly dragging through the day while becoming more alive and happy at night where I'm able to pursue my dream passionately. But alas they day job provides security & pays the bills so woe is me right? Haha wrong and I'll tell you why. Because thanks to my buddy Richie, I met the incredible Light that is Savannah S. Blake.

This was the concern I presented to Savannah on the Skype call she honored me with.

The first thing that I was taken by was her beautiful and bubbly personality, she greeted me with such warm acceptance and understanding. What really resonated with me was her ability to relate to my circumstance in every way and make me feel at ease to discuss my problems. More importantly, she created a safe and private place for me to express my emotions.
What a great listener! In her replies, I could tell she had a brilliant fountain of knowledge and was able to tap into that but also relay the information in an understandable way.

We got to talking and Savannah was able to instantly come up with a brilliant plan for me to do what I love as a day job and still pursue my dream. By that I mean she had already analyzed my strengths, providing me with a goal to achieve that takes advantage of those strengths. I was amazed because it was a strength I hadn't ever paid attention to.
~ Sometimes it takes the keen eye of another to spot them and help you nurture them to it's fullest potential. ~
This is what Savannah has helped and continues to help me achieve. So excited for the future and to be working with her.

Thanks to her guidance & awesome networking skills, I am proud to say that, with regards to the strength I mentioned, I've just landed my First client this week! And have also just received payment not once but twice! Woooohooo! A fantastic start to something with endless possibilities!

I am and will always be beyond grateful for her unique brand of empowerment and coaching.

I sincerely & highly recommend Savannah S. Blake as a Life Coach.

Happy Monday Motivation y'all

1. What is the best advice you were ever given?
  • My grandfather told me one time, “It’s easier to get forgiveness than it is permission.” It allowed me to stop hiding in the shadows, quietly and politely living life as others believed I was suppose to. This advice, in itself, gave me the permission I needed to start living life to it’s fullest and dive into every opportunity and experience that presented itself to me.
This was the quote I used in the yearbook my senior year of high school.

2. Who inspires you and why?
  • I’m the type of person that is inspired by fictional characters. No doubt there are some great real life people, but the ones that really make an impact on me personally aren’t real, haha. I have a whole vision board dedicated to those characters who inspire me:
    • Lagertha Lothbrok (Vikings) and Teyla Emmagan (Stargate Atlantis) because women can be both great leaders and fierce warriors.
    • Felicity Smoak (Arrow) and Dr. Daniel Jackson (Stargate Atlantis) because knowledge and intellect are invaluable and powerful.
    • I try to make a point to take away some sort of thought or inspiration from everyone I come into contact with. Everyone has something to teach us and we always have something to learn.

3. Everyone has bad days, how do you deal with a bad day?
  • It depends on what type of mood specifically I have found myself in. A shower, a nap or some meditation and yoga may do the trick. Some very loud music of either the dance or rock genre may flip it. A shot of rum may remedy the situation. Yesterday, I was in a dull mood until I remembered fridays mean Ancient Aliens marathons, haha. After a couple of episodes I was in a great mood!

4. Where do you go/what do you do when you need motivation?
  • I’ll youtube some specific people and listen to all of their videos while I clean my house or I’ll look at my emails and see what great videos are on there. Mindvalley and Evercoach have some particularly great stuff and I highly recommend them.

5. Failure is a big part of life, what has been your biggest failure to date?
  • I don’t believe in failures. Things that seem like “failures” are really only learning experiences and paths to success. Thomas Edison, when asked why he didn’t give up after failing so many times trying to create the lightbulb, said,”I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that don’t work.” Failure is the path to success. It’s all about perspective. Without our past experiences we wouldn’t be who or where we are in life now and in the future.

6. What is your biggest achievement?
  • Learning how to love myself for who I am and allow myself to be me without judgement or expectations. This is the key to any success.
  • Also, learning to forgive those in my life who have “wronged” me. I have learned to be thankful for them and to accept them as they are without any expectations because they helped shape me into who I am now.

7. Have you conquered any fears?
  • I have conquered so many fears! Most of which in the past year or so!
    • Fear of driving. This is the biggest one because I totalled 2 vehicles in 3 days when I was 18 and hardly drove at all for the next 6+ish years.
    • Fear of speaking on camera. I’ve got a whole youtube channel now! (a work in progress and not hugely impressive YET)
    • Fear of speaking to a crowd. (also a work in progress but getting better!)
    • Fear of being a failure. Up until about a year ago I felt lost about where I was headed in life.
    • I’ve also battled severe anxiety and panic attacks my entire life with both social and nonsocial situations. I’ve almost completely conquered it as well!

8. Music helps lift our mood, What is your go-to song when you need a pick me up?

9. Complete the sentence, Happiness is…
  • Something you find within yourself. It’s a choice.

10. What do you do to clear your mind?
  • Shower, meditate, yoga, sit outside, sing and dance. The best thoughts and ideas come when your mind is free and clear. I always try to make a point to be either working, or clearing my mind.

11. Life can be stressful, what are your top 3 things to unwind?
  • Yoga
  • Sing and dance
  • Sit outside
  • Stress is incredibly dangerous and should always be managed. I wrote a whole thing on it.

12. Have you watched any inspiring movies? Do you have any favorites?
  • Cloud Atlas. I watched it like 6 times over the course of 2 weeks when I first saw it and then sat around and just thought about it for like 3 months afterwards.
  • Idiocracy is a very good eye opener. Also quite hilarious. I recommend everyone watch it.
  • I’m a huge Harry Potter fan. I was one of those people at the store at midnight for the release of the books.

13. What is your favorite inspirational quote?
  • Nikola Tesla fascinates me. One of his quotes really stuck with me and may have been what led me to who I am today.

"If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.'"

14. Do you listen to motivational speakers?
  • Yes. Daily. I’m always listening to some sort of speech or webinar. I’ll put my headphones in and clean the house or do yard work. It might be my hobby.

15. How do you cope with unpleasant people?
  • Mostly I just avoid them. In the case of someone I can’t completely avoid, I try to remember that the way they are acting is because of some inner struggle that they are facing and has nothing to do with me. I try my best to come from a heart centered place, as most people just want to be cared about. Their unpleasantness is generally just a defense mechanism but sometimes I just have to put my headphones in and make myself busy.

16. What is your best piece of advice?
  • There’s a way to do, be or have anything you want. You just have to want it enough to take the time to figure out how and then be brave enough to implement.
you are as limitless as you believe you are its all in your mindset a.jpg

17. Complete the sentence “When life gives you lemons…”
  • Experiment with making things with them and turn a profit.

18. What is the most inspiring book you have ever read?
  • That’s hard to say. So many books have inspired me in so many ways. Inspiring us is their primary function, I believe.
    • The Hunger Games - Inspired me to be self sufficient. (Read the books. The movie’s don’t measure up)
    • The Handmaiden’s Tale - Inspired me to look at the world in a different way
    • Harry Potter - Inspired me to never give up, no matter what.

19. Do you have a place to pray or meditate?
  • Anywhere and everywhere. I guess I find myself doing it more often on my back porch, in the shower or bed and on the yoga mat. Any place is perfectly acceptable though.

20. What is your motto in life?

Do good; all else will follow.
