Fun at the #Groves2017 & Vineyard Festival with the Zapper App

Buongiorno

Let's kick off this #TravelTuesday right with a journey to this year's Groves & VineYard Festival hosted at the Casalinga Ristorante.
This weekend I was honored to be invited by ZapperTM to this exciting event.
This also afforded the perfect opportunity to take my mom out as a belated Mothers Day celebration/bond session.

Upon arrival we were chauffeured to the entrance by the brand new VolksWagen (VW) Golf models!

At the entrance we were greeted by these funny posers and given our tagsπŸ˜‹

A massive white tent awaited us thereafter with loads of different exhibitors all vying for the attention of the crowds. Each offering a variety of eclectic & aesthetic foods & wines from all over the country.

Wine Popsicles!!!

We emerged from the tent to the outside area where a massive crowd were sprawled out all across the lawn. There to take in the sun & enjoy the live entertainment.

Mom & I headed towards the ZapperTM to meet the awesome staff there. They were so friendly & fun, helping us setup up the Zapper app on our phones & then showing us how to use it.

The app itself took no time at all to setup and the fun began when the Zapper team had us play a little game of Roll the barcoded Dice. Once it landed on a side, we'd scan with the app & win a discount voucher!

DOWNLOAD the Zapper App

NOT JUST A BETTER WAY TO PAY...

Zapper makes it quicker and easier for your customers to pay for their meals. But besides a great user experience, Zapper also helps increase revenues at your restaurant through greater efficiencies and targeted promotions.

Our tummies growled with hunger so off we went to get some food & try out the app for the first time. Scanning the QR code at Doppio Zero was instantaneous, faster than guy next to me paying by machine. And just as the Zapper team stated, not only did I have my R15 voucher I'd won but also R25 off my First Zapper purchase. Which brought my meal to a whopping...

On check out the app offers #WiseWords which I found both enlightening and entertaining. Though the app works so fast you have to speed read through hahaha πŸ˜‚which is an added bonus.

Mom has been a wine enthusiast & connoisseur for years upon years now so you best know that she had a ball of a time tasting & sampling all the wines at the festival.πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Ž

She even picked up an awesome looking bottle of Italian Wine (Third from the right)
My fun was not only using the Zapper app but the live entertainment going on outside.
Featuring the rock talents & smooth voice of Arno Carstens first up & nothing beats a front row view to that.
Arno Bringing people & loved ones together

And then as if it couldn't get any better, the irreplaceable Gangs of Ballet took to the stage, empowering the crowd up off the ground & igniting a fire in them.

I first heard about the app from my cousin down in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal. He raved about how easy it was to use and how much more convenient it made his life. So it was almost kismet being invited to join the Zapper tribe.
I totally enjoyed using the Zapper app, in that it was so easy & fast to use. No Need for a card or cash, which I don't like carrying around anyway. Just scan a code that's instantaneous, a few taps & presto volista PAID! both I and the vendor get notifications plus I get an invoice emailed to me. My payment history is all logged and cataloged for future reference. I gotta say I'm enamored by this app & all the future possibilities it entails. Technological advancements excite me & using apps that make life way WAY easier, is what it's all about. Change can be both fun & convenient.
I also love the lowered risk option my mom now has when she leaves the house to go do shopping.

I; Enricoh Alfonzo; undoubtedly, vehemently, and whole-heartedly recommend the Zapper App to everyone.
“Get Zapp’d!” today

Travel Tag

1.      Tell us about a recent holiday-

My recent holiday was on the island of Karpathos, Greece.
This is a small island where my husband’s parents came from and which we visit often as a family to keep the culture and the connections alive.  Karpathos is a Greek Island that is rich in culture and traditions. It is part of a cluster of islands called the Dodecanese in the southeast Aegean Sea. It has beauty and hospitality that is unmatched anywhere else.
What makes Karpathos truly unique and beautiful are its beaches, people and culture it is a world in itself with its unique historical identity, retaining and celebrating their heritage.

2.      Best destination to travel to –

Karpathos, Greece because the island has magnificent beaches, secluded small bays and locals who still wear traditional costumes. Despite its wild beauty and its traditional character, surrounded by mountains and lush vegetation.
The houses with yellow-and-blue shutters and doors create an attractive scenery, combined with narrow alleys, beaches that have sand and pebbles, with the deep blue Mediteranean sea which is so mezmorizing with its shallow waters, ideal for families. Refreshing breezes and winds blow during the months of July and August, making our summer holiday quite comfortable.
3.      Worst Travel experience?

To tell you the truth I have not yet had a bad experience in my travels

4.      How traveling has changed your life?

Travelling has changed my life in a positive way. Travel is empowering, brings new connections, changes your perspective and I realized we Are All the Same. Most people don’t have the opportunity to travel and this is especially true for young students. Think about how much of an impact traveling the world has had on you. The relationships you’ve formed, how your perspective on the world has changed, or the positive changes travel has led to back home. Travel has made me a better person and I am sure you can say the same. I have found a purpose in life, introducing me to new cultures and has broadened my horizons

5.      Where are you from?

I am from a small town, Gweru in Zimbabwe a beautiful country in Africa. Where the surrounding areas was well-known for vibrant farming activities in beef cattle, crop farming, and commercial gardening of crops for the export market. Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, one of the “Seven Natural Wonders of the World” which is one of the features in my children’s Travel book series.

6.      Where have you been around the world?

I have travelled far and wide across the seas, North, South, East and West visiting many countries in Africa, Europe, Canada and America. As you can see from my children’s books I have visited many popular destinations in the world and amazing to see them on site.

7.      What is your favorite City?

I do not have a favorite city, to me they are all unique in their own beautiful ways with their cultures, people, sites and much more. However, I do like Montreal, Canada where I travel to often to see my family, it is clean and reminds me of Europe. Canada on the whole is a lovely country with its wide variety of culture, friendly people and beauty of rolling mountains, my favorite being Niagara Falls, an authentic Niagara experience and smell the roses at the Niagara Botanical Gardens then get an adrenaline rush of adventures. Yet again, one other “Natural Wonder” featured in my children’s books and where I launched my very first children’s “Travel Book”.

8.   What are your dream destinations?

My dream destinations for the future will be the Carabean islands and Cuba which I have always dreamt and wanted to visit since I lived in Zimbabwe and now close enough to visit. This I would love to do on a cruise from my new home New Jersey in the USA.

9.      Best item you have purchased overseas?

My best items I purchased overseas whilst living in Zimbabwe were all the children’s toys, watches, and more which we could not get back home due to sanctions and the lack of foreign currency.

10. What time of the year do you like to travel?
I and my family love to travel early or late summer when it is not too busy with tourism. This gives us a better opportunity to visit places without the huzzle and buzzle of tourism and the backup of traffic and flights.

11. How many times a year do you travel?
I travel as often as possible and at every opportunity that I can get visiting new places, seeing and experiences new cultures and visiting more of the beautiful places that the world has for us to see.

12.   Show us your favorite travel pictures?

Wankie Game Park, Zimbabwe

13.      What are some new and exciting cuisines that you tried on your travels?

Being Greek myself, Greek, African, French, Cocacian

14.      Have you ever lost something while traveling?

No nothing at all.

15.      What are your favorite travel activities?

Relaxing at the beaches and travelling by bus to popular destinations and site seeing

16.      What are your must-have travel accessories?

Comfortable shoes for sure as we do a lot of walking and site seeing and of course a good camera and I-phone.

17.      What is your favorite accent in the world?

I love to listen to the African and French accent

18.      If you could live anywhere where would you live?

In Karpathos, Greece, it is quiet and serene and love the clean and fresh air and authentic traditional food.

19.      Why do you enjoy traveling?

I love to see new places, cultures, people visit popular sites and destinations and to learn more and more about this beautiful world we live in and on and appreciate its natural beauty, the wild animals, the beautiful people, the cultures, the history, the architectures and so much more.

20.      Do you have a travel buddy?

My husband and Captain Frankie, we love to travel discovering adventures and learning so much of this big wide world that we love on. There is so much to see, to learn, to appreciate.
Meet Captain Frankie
21.      What are some of the interesting places you've visited and the different cultures?

Greece, England, South Africa, Zimbabwe, USA, Canada, Mauritius, France, Kenya.

22.    Have you ever had any bad travel experiences?

Apart from flight delays here and there nothing too major.

23.    Advice for those who want to travel but think they can’t?

Nothing is impossible you can travel without too much of an expense, in this day and age flights are reasonable and competitive. You can experience so much out there, see the world and meet so many people, your kids will never forget their travel experiences. My children loved it and still to date talk about their experiences, they have learnt so much and appreciate what they have, especially when visiting countries with the less fortunate people.

Raimundo Arruda Sobrinho - Homeless Man's Dreams Come True

Buenas Dias!

Yesterday I came across this tweet & felt immediately compelled to read the post attached.

What a touching & inspirational story! I couldn't wait to share it with y'all.
This is a MUST Read for those working towards their dreams.

This #TravelTuesday I want to you journey with me to SΓ£o Paulo, Brazil.

Born 1 August 1938, Raimundo worked as a gardener & bookseller. However, in the late 1970s, early 1980s, nearly at the end of the military dictatorship of Brazil, he became homeless.

Raimundo Arruda Sobrinho lived in anonymity for 35 long years, just one more faceless member of the thousands of people that make up Brazil's homeless population. Every day, he gathered whatever paper he could and honed his skills as a poet and philosopher. He sat in the same spot every day, his "island" as he called it, and every day people walked by without giving him a second thought. To the world, he was just one more dirty old homeless man occupying the streets.

It only takes One. One person. One encounter. One conversation.

Raimundo's wildest dreams was that maybe his words would be remembered one day, maybe they might be published, but he knew deep down that they would probably never be read by anyone at all. Then, one day, in the spring of 2011, something happened that changed his life forever.

A young woman named Shalla Monteiro took notice of him and befriended the old man. She would stop by every day to chit chat with him, and one day Raimundo gave her one of his poems. She decided to make him a Facebook page so his poems and stories could be shared with others. What happened next is a miracle. Watch the video below to learn more.

The Conditioned or #Incondicional  tells the amazing story & friendship of Shalla & Raimundo. It's now available on Amazon for purchase (Portuguese Edition)
You can also read the First Chapter Here, English Translated.

The power of connection. It could be as simple as pausing to chat with that person on the other side of the room. Or sending an encouraging text to a family member. Or introducing a friend to a fellow colleague.

We never know the ripple effect as we create points of association between ourselves and others. The world isn’t as separate as we imagine it to be.

So why not take the time to hear each other’s stories? And even champion each other’s dreams? Who knows–the doors we unlock for others may just swing wide open to usher us into our own destinies.

"They say that when the disciple is ready, he is the master."

Thanks Oprah Winfrey for posting our story at The Huffington Post!!

Man Homeless For 35 Years Reunites With His Family, Thanks To A Stranger’s Kindness

No longer homeless, Raimundo was able to take his poetry to the next level, with Monteiro’s help: His book of poetry, #Inconditional, was published in December of 2015.

One of Sobrinho’s own pieces of poetry beautifully sums up the power of his story.
