Love in the Fast Lane is a once in a life time, one of a kind Romance Novel that transcends any preconceived notions within the genre. It is compelling, jaw dropping. heart-warming. heart-crushing, frustrating, awe-inspired, adrenaline pumping, pulse racing, fear inducing, erotically charged and altogether Magical. I loved, 💙 loved reading every single word, sentence & page. So much so that for the First Time ever, due to a hectic schedule, I actually read the book on my phone. I was so enthralled and utterly hooked to the story that the smaller text and awkward-ity barely registered, all I cared about was getting to the next page and the next chapter and the next. I am yet again flabbergasted by Melissa's flawless ability to write such vivid descriptions, elegant prose, heart wrenching & passionate love stories. Any writer who can transport me out of reality has my vote but Melissa brings this in spades. I was instantly dissolved into the world of the characters, the locations, the spirit. Completely engrossed in their lives. And yet again, as unseemly as it seems, Melissa made me shed a few tears even. But the best part was the incredible resonance I found within her story lines.

My heart swells when I think of this book

Brielle {such a sexy name, just rolls of the tongue} is introduced as bookish, conservative and dedicated to finishing her degree to become a chiropractor. Upon an opportune trip to Brazil, Brielle begins to loosen up and let go of her stiffness. There's a scene in the club that reminds me of the first episode of Shameless where the guy sees Fiona dancing and is completely mesmerized by her. Because she's not dancing for an audience, she's just feeling the music as it sensually rhythms her body.

After the time skip we see a more controlled and mature Brielle but she's also more feisty and wears her battle scars proudly which is a huge plus for me.

The choices she's made, the sacrifices, the missed opportunities she's risked all impact on me on a very personal level.

Brielle possesses a truly deep emotional core and I'm infatuated with her.

Noah Woods is probably one of the most adorable book characters I've ever come across, from the moment he's shown, I was irrevocably hooked to watching this lil' kiddo run around in my head.
Seriously, it's adorableNess Overload! I just wanna scoop him up and cuddle his cheeks. Melissa displays such insight in her interactions between Noah and both his parents. Brielle's unconditional love towards her son is spot on and those father, son moments leave me heart-wrenched and wanting more.
His nickname is "Bucket". I can't wait for you to read all about him and why he got that name.

Love in the Fast Lane has Fast become one of my favorite books {pun intended} and definitely one of my favorite romances of the year. With Melissa's first book Waiting For You ranking up high as well. I can't decide which of them I love more because they have equally gripped me in ways I never thought possible.

This post has been a long long time coming, in fact when I started blogging in April 2016, I promised that I would do a post on Barack Obama. Now with the Medal of Freedom Ceremony & Trump being elected as the 45th US President. It feels only fair I feature my favorite President of all.

I know, I know Bold statement. Well I'm a pretty bold guy.

"But how can you say that when there have been so many Greats before him?"~ You may ask.
Some that fought wars, some that won wars, some that ended slavery, some that built economic hubs of prosperity. Well it's simple really, even in the face of all of that Barack Obama comes out ahead because he's been President within my life time and I got to experience his awesomeness as I grew up.
He's the first black president
His speeches are both uplifting and extraordinarily invigorating as opposed to every other politician I've ever heard talking...

Then Barack certainly testifies to it today. The ONLY way through is... Through! Action causes reaction. If you're down and out, miserable and stressed, sad and lonely~ Just get up and get moving. Do something, anything to keep yourself moving forward.

Welcome to the 21st Century everyone.
What society finds acceptable is constantly changing and reshaping. By that I mean decades ago, free black men were almost unheard of and slavery ran rampant. NOW, slavery is unacceptable and free black men are everywhere. Do you see what I mean? What is Right will always be Right. Whether now or 20 years from now.

Another perspective is that kids are our future, they are entirely the immense potential our species has. So in saying that, why would we teach them anything else but that Everyone is Equal. In every which way that matters. Race, skin color, sexual orientation, culture.

When we were younger & even now the people around us tend to Tell us at every corner what our destinies are. What we are meant to do with our lives. What's the best option for us.

Hobbledegoop! It's much easier for someone to judge your life than their own and I'm sure many of us are guilty of this too. Sometimes it just flows through us.

When in reality, No One and I mean NO ONE can chose your path but You.
If you read Barack's background you would never in a million years say that he would end up as president, in fact you'd probably laugh, hysterically. but just look at the guy now. Even though the commonality in society wouldn't even believe he could get a law degree let alone become president. We determine our destiny, end of story.

Not only does he do the Superman pose which earns him my Superman fandom Salute!

I am simply in awe of how amazing Obama is.

How to OverCome Self-Doubt: A New Perspective to 6 Tips

It's a new week with a whole new set of probabilities & awesome paths your life can take.
Let's kickit off with #MondayMotivation

Today I'm talking about something personal and an old enemy of mine. Self-Doubt.

If I'm being honest though, it has been both my ruination & salvation at times. You can bet it's made me into the Writer I am today.

Self-Doubt to me is a mighty temptress, able to find you at your most vulnerable, often catching you unawares. She is quite possibly the Greatest enemy ever known to Creativity. Yet one cannot exist without the other. 

She's able to take your innermost fears & twist them inextricably until all you believe is that you deserve the life you're currently living and that this is as far as you'll ever go. 

"We accept the love we think we deserve."

My favorite quote from the movie: The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

It has such deep meaning for us all. 

We really do accept what we think we deserve. 

Last week I fell pray to this mistress of deception. She tackled me when all seemed to go wrong in my life. And true to her seductive nature she lulled me into a sense of numbness whereby I was given tiny whispers that it's ok to be lazy, it's ok to take a break...and even to give up.

We've all had these moments haven't we? The ones where even when things are going great, even when we're offered Big opportunities, there's that one moment where Doubt creeps in. Slowly at first and not until it has its sharp claws deep within you do you feel that colossal wave sweep through you, that horrible pit in your stomach and that voice in your head saying "I'm not good enough." or my personal favorite, "There's no way I can do that."

It's like a never ending curse that we must all bare our souls to and somehow survive each time it happens.

Did you know JK Rowling, one of the most successful authors in history went through horrible depression and self doubt? Oh yes. Boy did she ever.
She was a single mom with little to no means of supporting her family and a very Real chance that they would be taken away from her. I can't even fathom what it would be like to be her at that very moment.
In fact, if you're a fan of the Harry Potter series, you'll notice that the Dementors were inspired by the turmoil she experienced whilst depressed. Ghoulish creatures that are able to suck every ounce of happiness you posses.

So let's get cracking on that Cure then shall we before those nasty Dementors return
I'm going to go through the number One google result for Overcoming Self Doubt and see what spin I can give.

6. Ask Yourself Empowering Questions.

Hmm this could be a new take on affirmations, instead of just saying the words you're now asking the questions of yourself and confirming the answers.
Allowing you to admit to yourself your strengths and weaknesses, fears and beliefs.
.
* Do you want to be responsible for your own life decisions?
* Do you have the courage to go after what you want and see it through?
* Can you accept that fear is part of the journey and move forward anyway?
* Can you recognize that fear is only your leader if you allow it to be?

The mind is a fickle thing, it can change so suddenly or just be a stubborn nail that you can never budge. So it's important to reassure the mind every day of it's true purpose. To remain strong for the dreams and passions you wish to pursue.

5. Decide You Don’t Have To Do Anything. 

"I wish to control the universe and make it so nothing bad happens ever again!"
Whether naive or mature, I believe at some level we all want absolute control.
This one seems to involve an excercise to show You that You have the power of Choice. That you can either choose to do something or not to do it. The choice and therefore responsibility is all on you thereafter.
This is hogwash ofcourse, this is the very problem that breeds self doubt, it's not that we don't feel in control or that we don't feel like our decisions matter. It's Because we feel the control and the responsibility that Doubt haunts us endlessly. It's because we feel like even if we make the decision, even if we take on the responsibility and put on that brave face, how are we suppose to Face it when it all falls apart or that our choices inevitably led us to that dark and dingy road of failure?

With this point I would say, screw control. You have enough on your plate with work, the family, the kids, the house, the food, the money, the retirement plan, the travel. And then on top of all of that you add the workload of pursuing your dreams...

Just Decide that no ONE decision is going to make or break you, decide that you'll have to take on this feeling of Self-Doubt each and every time, battle it just like the warriors in those Mythical stories. It's not about winning or losing, it's about surviving each time.

4. Build Your Confidence Muscle. 

Here they talk about how every obstacle, every failure, every setback builds your confidence muscle.
Confidence isn't created or bought or even bedazzled...it's Earned. I'm talking about true confidence. not the kind you get when you go home with a hot guy or girl at the end of a date or the kind you get when you can afford an amazing car.

True confidence can only be attained by force of will. By weathering the storms, by fighting through the obstacles, by smiling through the pain and by surviving. Because once you go through the trails and tribulations, I promise you'll love yourself more for making it on your own terms.

3. Change your attitude about failure.

In the highly popular Divergent movie series, the main character Tris often has this remarked about her:
"Fear doesn't shut you down, it wakes you up."

Thankfully these aren't just statements and the character proves this quality by action many times over in the books & movies.
There are honestly so many types of fears out there, it's mindboggling. So how are we suppose to conquer something that exists practically in every direction around the world? WE DON'T
The psychobible says that there are many ways to overcome fear but why should we overcome it? Why, when we can change it, mold it to our liking. Just look at that fear from a different perspective.

My favorite quote illustrates this perfectly:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure."

Such awesome meaning here! I love it.
Here we see that most people will have a fear that they are not good enough when in fact if you look at it from a different angle, it appears that we a more afraid of succeeding than failure.
Last week when the doubt set in, I wasn't depressed because I had failed I was depressed because I wondered more than anything what I would do should I become successful.
Would I be worthy enough to deserve that success, would I be humble enough that I honor that success. Would I be mature enough to own that success...

2. Talk to someone. 

Surround yourself with only those that are going to take you higher.
This could be the most difficult step for anyone. Because we so desperately want to believe in our friends to have faith that they will be there when we need them the most.
It's easy to make friends but it's not so easy to find the ones that are truly selfless in their actions towards you. Find that friend that's there in a heart beat, to Listen only, to allow you that opportunity to vent, to say everything on your mind no matter how ridiculous, dark or funny it may sound. They listen and comfort. They when all is said and done, they Support. They are that pillar that keeps you from diving into the abyss of doubt.

1. Make a Decision.

For pursuing your Dream. YOU ARE AWESOME.
Never, ever ever never ever never Never forget that. 
It's the start of a new week, it's a beginning of sorts. The perfect place to make that decision to TRY. For every great success on this planet began with that very same decision to TRY.

It's so so EASY for us to fall into rooted routines and accustomed paths that it's almost impossible to break free, to ignore that part of your brain that compels you to procrastinate or value other things in your life as of more import.
No one, no one can make this decision for you. You could read a hundred blog posts and a thousand self help books on overcoming doubt but you'll move no further than where you are now if you don't make a DECISION to TRY.

I say this in the hopes that now only you hear it but that I do too. For no one is perfect & even the most motivated people on the planet have darkened days of self doubt and reprimand. What matters most is that we ALL just keep moving forward, keep battling those demons, keep surviving and just plain ol' keep on keepin' on!

I really do Believe in all of you and the immense power you carry within your beating heart and fiery soul. We are all capable and the greatest disappointment would be to not honor the potential we have.

So I beseech you, start to Dream again, start to Believe in You because I already do. I have faith that all of you can & will accomplish incredible and insurmountable feats. Your dream is still there, I promise you it's still there. Reach out and Soar with it.

Iiiiiit's Finally that time, the #FantasticBeasts Movie is releasing in a week!

Today I'm sharing 5 Lessons from Both this EPic movie & Eddie Redmayne, the Oscar winning star playing the main character, Newt Scamander.

On Friday, you might have thought me as cracked as mad-eye moody because all I posted about was Harry Potter & Fantastic Beasts. You see there was different competitions running all to win the same price.

It's not a novel but rather a guide to some of the Fantastical Beasts.

Fantastic Beasts is a wonderful & magically shinning example that being different is actually a great thing. It's beasts are not unlike so many animals misunderstood & some even persecuted all around the world. Hunted & killed for their uniqueness.

Let's take a stand TODAY against poaching & animal cruelty. They all deserve to be respected & admired for their awesomeness.

A spin-off of the Harry Potter film series, the film was produced and written by J. K. Rowling (in her screenwriting debut), inspired by her book of the same name

Edward John David "Eddie" Redmayne, OBE (/ˈrɛdˌmeɪn/; born 6 January 1982) is an English actor, model and singer. Born and raised in the City of Westminster, Redmayne studied history of art at Trinity College, Cambridge, after which he briefly dabbled with a modelling career.

Redmayne is the recipient of several accolades, including an Academy Award and in 2015, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for his services to drama. In addition to his acting career, he supports several social causes, including LGBT rights.



Eddie won the Oscar for Best Actor in the Movie, The Theory of Everything where he played the legend, Stephan Hawking! It was an unbelievable performance filled to the brimmed with the feels and sure to make anyone emotional.

His next role only further emphasizes Eddie's superb acting chops & bravery. The following year, he played Lili Elbe, one of the first known recipients of sex reassignment surgery, in Hooper's The Danish Girl, which gained him a second Oscar nomination for Best Actor.

Judgement is for Judges

Nothing is ever as it seems. Judge not what you don't take the time to understand. Never resign yourself to what you Know, there's always a different perspective. The whole premise of the Fantastic Beasts worldbuilding is that these creatures are often misunderstood with Mr. Newt Scamander making it his life purpose to educate the magical community and help them understand these beasts alittle more. 

For the fans: Recall the Thestrals, many people avoided them in fear because one could only see them when one had been a witness to death. Does that peculiarity warrant avoidance or rather should it be fascinating in its own right?

...Nothing is ever as it seems.

#WeirdWednesday - Embrace Your Wacky Self

I did an interview once where I was asked who I found attractive and I went on about cartoons and Nala from 'The Lion King' - and it's a bit weird but various of my ex-girlfriends actually did look like Nala.

Hahaha how wacky is that! I definitely recall having a lion crush on Nala when I first saw the Lion King as a kid. She was super awesome.
So if a weird guy like Eddie can win an oscar and become successful in his career, then even the weirdest weirdo has a shot, don't they? You have Nothing to worry about, let your inhibitions go and be who you were Always meant to be.

I know, I know that I too have those days, moments even, where a bout of anxiety will sink in. An inner voice in your head telling you that you can't do that or do this or be that or want this.
Because Eddie had this perspective he delivered one of the most EPIC performances of the last decade & it won him the Oscar!!!

It can be sooo tempting to take the fast route, to sprint through a day at top speed not realizing that this is a Marathon. It happens to all of us even the well organized. Life is Life, it's messy nothing is ever cemented in stone. The world around us is all abuzz with truckfull of noise, hustle & bustle. It moves in zigs & zags like a Formula One racer. We're all just playing catch up as best we can.

The secret sauce from Eddie here is that our Need for things to happen right now need not "Exceed Expectations" 
You have a goal right? A burning passion in life? Or even just a "I want to be well-off mate"
Well that doesn't just happen over night, it takes effort & a Will to survive.
All you need do is take it day by day, step by step, inch by inch, atom by atom
BUT the most important thing is to become Adaptable. Fluid like the current of a river but as tough as the Oceanic waves that mold the moutainsides to their favor.

Such an amazing lesson from Eddie, wow. Has immense meaning within and has become one of my favorites. This ties into the above lesson of being in competition. The only competition you should have is with yourself. To be today, a better version of yourself than you were yesterday.

I only surround myself with people that are going to lift me higher, that are as giving maybe even more so, than I am. They focus on sharing the love and helping others succeed.

Whether you're in the acting biz, an author or a blogger or candlestick maker. You have a choice today to help someone, anyone in anyway you can. Share out your experience, share out your joy. Don't hold back.
