#OlympicGames - 5 Lessons You Taught Me

This #MondayMotivation we're going with the Health & Fitness Theme on the Blog Tag.
After watching the Olympic Games Rio 2016 trailer & Opening Ceremony with the unbelievably gorgeous Adrianna Lima, I just had to do this post.

The modern Olympic Games or Olympics (French: Jeux olympiques) are the leading international sporting event featuring summer and winter sports competitions in which thousands of athletes from around the world participate in a variety of competitions. The Olympic Games are considered the world's foremost sports competition with more than 200 nations participating. The Olympic Games are held every four years, with the Summer and Winter Games alternating by occurring every four years but two years apart.

Their creation was inspired by the ancient Olympic Games, which were held in Olympia, Greece, from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD. Baron Pierre de Coubertin founded the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1894.
So here are the 5 Lessons learned from the Olympic Games that can be applied to your daily lives.
Remember, Success leaves Clues.

1. Dream Big

"Don't put a limit on anything. The more you dream, the further you get," swimmer Michael Phelps told the U.K.'s Daily Mail.

Michael Phelps is the Most decorated Olympian of all time! So take it from him, the only limit in life is you. I get it, it's nurture, our environment, and the "standards" we've become accustomed to. So it's hard for some to believe that there is more out there. But I promise you there is. All you need do is Dream more and ignore limits.

Too often do we settle for less when More becomes exceedingly unavailable. Believe in more.

2. Embrace Hard Work

"Hard days are the best because that's when champions are made," women's gymnastics champ Gabby Douglas told NBC.

Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% Perspiration. 

I won't sugar coat it for ya, it takes massive action and hard, hard work to achieve true success. 

But Today's journey could become tomorrow's Legend. 

3. Cultivate the Team Culture

"Whether we had finished on top or not, the thing that I'm proud of is sticking together," Olympic beach volleyball star Misty May-Treanor told CNN.

No one worth remembering has ever gotten anywhere on their own. It takes a team, it takes a tribe, it takes a mentor, it takes having someone to catch you when you fall. Someone to lift you up when to stumble. Be humble in remembering those that have helped you achieve your success. 

I am truly grateful for a friend who has supported my author of being an author since day one. I cannot even begin to describe my gratitude for her friendship and encouragement.

4. Have Fun

"Have fun, because that's what life is all about," swimmer Ryan Lochte told TeensOnSports.com

What's the point for working hard, taking massive action and dreaming big if you're not having fun along the way? Failure is a big part anyone's journey so it's important to enjoy moments and have fun along the way.

5. This is YOUR Journey

"You were born to be a player. You were meant to be here. This moment is yours,” said coach Herb Brooks told the 1980 U.S.A. men's ice hockey team.

Ahh coach quotes are some of my favorite. They really know how to rev up your soul. 

This is your journey. No one, NO ONE can take that away from you. At the same time that means, this journey...it's your responsibility, it's your choices that define it. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE successful started off where you are right now, they weren't born a winner, they weren't instantly. brightly wealthy, no. So take that realization as incentive to kick out any doubts you may have and go out they to achieve your destiny. 

Make it so they couldn't ignore you even if they wanted to.

Travel Tag: 200 Saturdays Until Paris

One of my favorite days of the week has arrived, iiiiiiitS #TravelTuesday
Travel is a Billion Dollar industry almost teasing at Trillion Dollar status, Why?
Because EVERYONE loves to travel!

Upon my interactions on Facebook I came across a most interesting blog name, 200 Saturdays Until Paris and even though the name is pretty self-explanatory, I was still drawn by the name and the mission of the blog.

Every once in awhile you come across someone who's spirit is iridescent.

Meet Christine

Christine's dream, for as long as she can remember, is to visit the City of Light and experience the majestic wonder it has to offer. The first step in her journey is 200 Saturdays until Paris. A personal blog, where she shares her passion for yoga practices, inspirational posts, and the daily shenanigan's life sends her way while researching for her dream vacation.

1. Tell us about a recent holiday

• The most recent vacation was in Las Vegas. You know the saying – whatever happens in Vegas – stays in Vegas. All I can divulge is - you can’t have a bad time in Vegas!

2. Best destination to travel to

• I love everywhere I go and haven’t been to every destination on my list – so this answer is always evolving. My answer for now is Bar Harbor, Maine. I like hiking and exploring. Acadia National Park was very memorable. One of the friendliest cities – in my opinion. 

3. Worst Travel experience? 

• Flight canceled and returned home a day late. My luggage decided to stay on vacation 2 additional days. I only take carry-on luggage now. 

4. How traveling has changed your life? 

• I love learning about new cultures – first hand. I love that it doesn’t matter what country I am in – we are different, yet the same. Human. 

5. Where are you from? 

• Chicago, but I live in Florida now. 

6. Where have you been around the world? 

• I haven’t been to as many places as some people. I really haven’t been around the world. I recently starting blogging and following travel blogs – there are so many places now added to the must see list. The places outside of the US that I have been to include, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Mexico and the Virgin Islands.

7. What is your favorite City? 

• St. Augustine, FL – The location is convenient. There are so many things to do and see in the oldest city in the United States. I will have a post about St. Augustine, on my blog – soon.

8. What are your dream destinations? 

• Since I have a blog dedicated to Paris – I would have to say France! 
• Also Hawaii, Amsterdam and Canada.

9. Best item have you purchased overseas? 

• I haven’t purchased any big ticket item for myself, on any trip. I tend to be cheap when it comes to myself. That will change - when I go shopping in Paris!

10. What time of the year do you like to travel? 

• Anytime it isn’t too hot – I experience that enough where I live now.

11. How many times a year do you travel? 

• As many as possible, although the last few years we were caring for our 3 elderly Chihuahua’s and couldn’t do much traveling. They are no longer with us. Luckily, the new puppies love to vacation at the doggie spa while we are away!

12. Show us your favorite travel picture?

13. What are some new and exciting cuisines that you tried on your travels? 

• I don’t know if this is very exciting. One of my favorite memories on a trip to Jamaica, was having a resident cook a meal for us - in their home. The aroma in the house and the hospitality made it such a great experience. Jamaican Jerk Chicken and Red Stripe beer! Oh and Blue Mountain coffee is THE best coffee! 

14. Have you ever lost something while traveling? 

• Besides my dignity?? No – I usually triple check that I have everything.

15. What are your favorite travel activities? 

• Para-sailing and climbing to the top of lighthouses. I really love architecture - looking for interesting buildings is one of my favorite things to do.

16. What are your must-have travel accessories?

• A good book. 

17. What is your favorite accent in the world?

• Francais- of course.

18. If you could live anywhere where would you live?

• Tough question. I could probably live anywhere, but, I haven’t been everywhere – so I am unable to choose the dream location. I suspect I will want to live in France, once I visit the City of Light. Home is where you hang your hat! 

19. Why do you enjoy traveling? 

• I love seeing new places and meeting new people. I have a weird fascination of people watching at the airport. I arrive hours before my flight, just to be able to people watch while I wait. 

20. Do you have a travel buddy? 

• I usually travel with my husband, but a getaway with the girls is always a good time. 

21. What are some of the interesting places you've visited and the different cultures? 

• Besides many places in the US – I have mostly been to the Caribbean. I feel any place you visit is interesting. There is always something to learn. 

22. Have you ever had any bad travel experiences? 

• Not really, besides my luggage abandoning me. All experiences are just that – experiences. You can learn from any of them. 

23. Advice for those who want to travel but think they can’t? 

• Give me a call – I will gladly go with you and show you that you can travel!

Nelson Mandela - 5 Lessons You Taught Me

How could I ever forget you?

How could I ever not honor you?

Nelson Mandela has been a positive force in my life for as long as I can remember. He wasn't just a president, in fact, he transcended the position. He was a singular entity of sheer willpower that I will never forget. In my darkest moments, he has been there. In my surest moments, he was there.

Here are the 5 Lessons that he taught me:

1. Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.

Education can be defined as two things, systematic instruction or an enlightening experience. Whichever way you do define it, Knowledge is Not power but the application of knowledge IS. Don't just learn something for the sake of learning it, find a way to apply what you know.

2. I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

Do not be ignorant in your confidence or forget that we are all human, EVERYONE feels fear. Remain humble even when you do conquer.

When Oprah was reminiscing she told us about a backstage story involving Nelson. He was there for his first Iconic interview with her and he asked if he could meet the other guests of the show that day. When they told him that he was the only one, he was shocked to hear that the entire show was going to be about him. Now that's humble.

3. It always seems impossible until it's done.

Possibly my Favorite lesson! Going to tell you a story: A while back the world's strongest man was Sergei and for the longest time the most he could power lift was 600. Because he was so conditioned to believe that 600 was all he could lift. In his mind, body & soul, that is all he could lift but one day his trainers hatched a daring plan. Instead of his usual daily lift of 600, they put on 602. Now because of Sergei's belief, he lifted it! "Sergei! Sergei! Do yvou know vhat yvou've just done?!" They shouted. Ofcourse after that someone did 605, then someone else did 610 and so on and so on. 

Mount Everest must've seemed insurmountable until someone dared enough to do it and then how many have conquered it now? Hundreds. 

4. For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.

We rise by lifting others. Do you really want to reach the top, clawing, kicking and screaming against all the others? Or would you rather find like minded individuals that her positive and empowering to share in your journey? I promise you have someone to share your dreams, fears, thoughts and ideas with is a truly magical experience. 

That being said, living a life in service to mankind and the betterment of this world, the only world we have is a beautiful purpose to have.

5. There is no passion to be found playing small - in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.

Where would we be if Nelson hadn't risked it all for the freedom of his people?
Can you imagine your children or you not knowing the True Wonder of Harry Potter had JK Rowling settled for the life society deemed fit for her?
What if Barack Obama settled for a quiet life in the suburbs or the doubt that "a black man could never be president of America"?
Dream Big. Take Massive Action.

Welcome back! Thank you for watching. Today we’ll be talking to the multiple award-winning and critically acclaimed, Grace Ann Scott. Dubbed the Blogger Queen by her worldwide fans.

Shiane makes a show of touching her ear as if receiving communication there. She holds up a finger as added.

SHIANE

(CONT’D) Wow, okay I’m getting word now ….that Grace has just entered the parking bay! Let’s have a look shall we?

Awww, thank you for having me Shiane but it is me who is the fan of you. I’ve watched you for years now and all my fans know it.

Well try as you might to be humble Miss Thang, you’ve created a revolution. That letter you released from Maya is absolutely heart-breaking & uplifting! Is it true that she’s the newest member with her own section on the website and everything?

GRACE

(smacks her hands together)

Yes! Oh my God! I’m so excited for her. Maya is just a complete phenomenon right now and she’s inspiring girls all over the world. I have big plans in store for her.

SHIANE

That’s amazing Grace, I know all the tweens are loving you for that. Plucking some random from obscurity and giving her a life only celebrities get to live. On a more serious note, is it true that you & Maya share a very special bond? Can you tell us about it?

GRACE

(visibly saddened, looks down)

Maya’s letter really resonated with me because I too lost my mother at a young age.

(shakes head out) (MOS)

(CONT’D) Yet I know that Maya is one of a kind, thoughtful, funny, totally teddy bear hug you to the wall caring. I would be ‘besties like toasties’ with her in any lifetime.

Well, without further ado let’s get this show on the rolly polly, shall we? So you’ve been called the Blogger Queen, the Queen of Beauty, the Grace connection. Can you tell us how this all started?

GRACE

(laughs nervously at the attention)

Oh please, I ain’t no Queen. I have friends around the world, not loyal subjects. (laughs). Basically, my ‘besties like toasties’ Ashley & Nicole were complaining about how all the websites were extremely hardcore beauty or extremely hardcore anti-beauty. But there was nothing in the middle, nothing light-hearted and fun. That’s what the ‘GraceConfessions’ is all about, keeping everyone completely up to date with beauty but by keeping it real & quirky which is what most of us are, is it? Quirky.

SHIANE

(claps)

Here we go. Grace, the fans would like to know, What is your skin care regime?

GRACE

I’m a CEM kinda girl. Cleanser, Exfoliant & Moisturizer. On certain days, I apply the eye cream, toner & a mask.

SHIANE

Perfect, ok question number 2. Becka from Sydney wants to know, Do you wear makeup every day?

GRACE

Oh yes, it’s just a part of who I am. Alittle goes a long way.

SHIANE

I like this one, What is your favorite beauty brand?

GRACE

Well ofcourse it’s MAC, MAC for life but I’ve really been enjoying a Japanese brand lately. It’s called Shiseido.

SHIANE

Really? Maybe I should give it a go as well. Question number 4 from Brighton in London, What are your beauty sins? Oh! Speaking of this, you site gets thousands upon thousands of these on a daily basis. Which one is your favorite?

GRACE

Brighton! Such a cool name. It’s true I’ve read every beauty sin I’ve thought possible and still more pours in every day. I would say it’s not washing out my makeup before bed, some days are just more exhausting than others. My favorite would be the one a guy posted a while ago about how he shaves with baby oil. We’ve had so many guys come back and say they tried it with great success. It was really funny and incredibly humbling to see guys use the site too.

Gracy, so modest. Ofcourse guys follow it, it wouldn’t be a revolution if they didn’t. So What’s in your make-up bag at this very moment?

GRACE

I think the more interesting question is, what isn’t.

Let’s see my key items that I can’t live without are Eye Shadow, Eye Liner & Lip Stick.

SHIANE

Oh yes darling, I couldn’t bear to not have that on me. Ok, let’s see hmmm the next question is from Teddy in Texas. She says, You are late for a meeting and can only put on one make-up item before leaving the house what do you grab?

SHIANE

Yes, it really is the only thing worth having isn’t it. Right then, Grace Ann have you ever uh, I think the phrase they used is, “ugly cried” and have your mascara run in public?

GRACE

(laughs childishly)

GRACE

In honor of the great artist Prince, I’m definitely going to say ~Purple Rain, Purple Rain~ (sings in perfect pitch)

SHIANE

Wow, you’ve got some pipes on you girl. Question number 9 is, How often do you wash your hair?

GRACE

I try to do it every day but during my busiest weeks, it’s most likely every second day.

SHIANE

Taraji from Kenya would like to know, Are your eyebrows on fleek? Wait what in the holy heavens are eyebrows on fleek? Sounds positively demented.

GRACE

(giggles and claps on legs)

Don’t worry Shi, it’s an American thing...mostly. As with most things beauty related it started with Kim Kardashian & her eyebrow war with the wonderfully goofy Cara Delevingne. Kim won by bleaching her eyebrows and the trend ‘eyebrows on fleek’ was born. It's a variation of the word 'flick' or eyebrows on point if you will. So my answer is, yes (giggles) and I do enjoy watching those who do it too.

I love how this isn’t a model exclusive thing anymore. Yes! I love to contour. Ashley is the greatest at it and always does mine before we hit the town.

I’m so overjoyed that you asked that question. (body language to the crowd). I’m very excited to announce that the ‘GraceConfessions’ site is well on it’s way to launching it’s very own beauty brand!

Bloody Hell! I cannot wait to try this new brand out, you simply must not forget to send me samples. Also, it seems another popular must have from the twitter-verse is a Quick Fire round. In which I give you two options and you pick one in rapid succession. Ready?

GRACE
