Today I take a famous Icon and find 5, yes, just 5 lessons that they can teach us.
I feel like I should start by saying "In no way does this post politically endorse any presidential candidate"
I wanted a challenge with today's post so why not choose a person, who's got an onslaught of negative press in his career and find The Positive life lessons he could inspire in others.
Regardless of your feeling towards the man, whether positive or negative, here are the facts:
His Net Worth is US$3.7 billion (2016)
He is the chairman and president of The Trump Organization, which is the principal holding company for his real estate ventures and other business interests. During his career, Trump has built office towers, hotels, casinos, golf courses, an urban development project in Manhattan, and other branded facilities worldwide.
From one of my favorite movies, A Knight's Tale:
“Can a man change the stars?"
"Yes William. If he believes enough, a man can do anything!”
In light of this information, it is evident that Mr. Trump does have some motivation & inspiration to offer us all.

We ALL have the potential to do Great things, no matter how smart or educated we are. No matter how big or small we are. No matter how strong or weak we are. No matter our race, culture or religion. And no matter our circumstance.
5. Branding Smanding
“If your business is not a brand, it’s a commodity.”
My awesome Author friend & mentor Akasha Garnier has written an unbelievably amazing book that's all about how to create & amplify your brand. Check it Out
Branding is super important but deciding on your brand can be a daunting task. This awesome review on the book sheds light on Akasha's exceptional #PersonalDevelopment skill
4. Seeing is Believing
“If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will.”
As I've said, from personal conversations with people & the posts online, Donald has received an onslaught of negative press throughout his career. Both against his personality & his business ethics. Has that stopped him from moving forward? Nope, not in the slightest. Infact the guy has now set his sights on becoming President, Lex Luthor Style {jj}.
Mr. Trump has shown us that he has a supreme belief in himself & his ambitions.
3. Go BIG, or go Home
“I like thinking big. If you’re going to be thinking anything, you might as well think big.”
My ultimate phrase in life is to Dream BIG so this lesson fits perfectly into that. He even says "Most people think small because they are afraid of success, afraid of making decisions, afraid of winning."
Now while I do believe that we are ALL unique and have our own reasons for doing the things we do, this lesson stands strong. We should all strive for the next level, to never settle for the ordinary when we can become ExtraOrdinary.
2. Experience Beats Paper
“Experience taught me a few things. One is to listen to your gut, no matter how good something sounds on paper. The second is that you’re generally better off sticking with what you know. And the third is that sometimes your best investments are the ones you don’t make.”
Entrepreneurs, especially successful ones like Donald Trump prove time & time again that experience beats paper on every single occasion. Especially when it comes to achieving the very things that others thought impossible. Be daring, go with your gut, you never know what's around the corner.
1. Get Going or Get Gone
“Get going. Move forward. Aim High. Plan a takeoff. Don't just sit on the runway and hope someone will come along and push the airplane. It simply won't happen. Change your attitude and gain some altitude. Believe me, you'll love it up here.”

We ALL have the potential to do Great things, no matter how smart or educated we are. No matter how big or small we are. No matter how strong or weak we are. No matter our race, culture or religion. And no matter our circumstance.
It all begins with the decision to TRY.

He is so cringy. You know he would have made more money by investing his inheritance than he has through business. Fool!
ReplyDeleteI dont know about trump but this is a great post. :)
ReplyDeletePolitics aside, he does have a very distinctive personality and style. I can see how you'd garner some lessons.

ReplyDeleteHe does have a way of making his own brand and staying by it. I think these are great lessons to learn from him.
ReplyDeleteHave to say you picked an interesting subject! As much as I'm not a fan of him, I totally agree with the points you made. I'm a big advocate of believing in yourself, and that anyone can achieve everything they want. Cool post!

ReplyDeleteIt has been an interesting election. I am looking forward to finding out the results.
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting topic! I only heard of Trump from the news so I believe your points do carry some weight.
ReplyDeleteI can't stand that man. I have learned nothing from him other than he is a disgusting, vulgar person who has gotten where he is from money.
ReplyDeleteWow! This was..
ReplyDeleteDifferent. And exceptionally uplifting
Being successful for me is about breaking chains of everyday life conformity. Bookmarking your blog to come back later :)
Great insights dude. Like an Asian who knows how to eat fish, you're able to take the meat away from the bones.
ReplyDeleteTrump is surely controversial, and hated by some (or most) Americans, but he sure have something to offer.
Oh yes! We can learn a greatdeal about branding just by the way he says his words in public! Hahahaha!
ReplyDeleteamazing post! :) Congratulations for your new followers :)
ReplyDeleteI don't follow politics, especially not those out of my counrty, so all I know about Trump is what I stumbled across on Twitter. But this gives an interesting insight on the person.
ReplyDeleteInteresting read. Although I am concerned about who the next governing leader would be, I try not to involve myself too much in it.
ReplyDeleteIt is important to never stop being confidence in our dreams. We have to go for them if we want to make them a reality.
ReplyDeleteWell I am not from the US but these lessons about Trump are true :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely an interesting icon to choose most of us outside USA worry about women's rights where he's concerned but each to their own
ReplyDeleteHe's good at being a successful business man and that's about it. Thanks for sharing these though.
ReplyDeleteThere certainly is a lot to learn from Donald Trump. He has tons of achievements both in real estate and in branding - heck, we even learn from him at work. It's good to know more about the man in a different light.
ReplyDeleteInteresting and controversial choice. Trump is good in business at times. He has had quite a few failures as well. I would say take some of his words to heart and modify it.
ReplyDeleteI'm an immigrant and a woman. I learned everything I need to know about Trump from his own words.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting choice. I have to say that in every person, even those you don't like, you can find something to admire or respect.
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed reading this post!! Very interesting point of view!
ReplyDeleteI really don't like the guy. He's great at handling his businesses. I like that you've managed to see good in him despite everything.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a controversial figure and I can see why you have potentially chosen him. He was once a brand in his own right that people may have looked up to however he is also a person that can highlight how quickly a brand can fall if you don't do things that others can relate to.
ReplyDeletealso very true! He has certainly made some questionable decisions in the past. relatability is such an important factor
DeleteThis is an interesting year that is for sure! Thanks for sharing your perspective!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE how you can take anything and find positivity in it. You are my hero! Too bad you can't be our President!
